Sometimes Windows Active Direcory AD domain admins gave single-level local DNS domain name, for example:
contoso
instead of 2-level name, usually ending with .local, eg.:
contoso.local
Windows client OS does not allow computer join to domain with single level domain name, so you need to hack registry on CLIENT PC to allow adding it to single level domain name.
Just save this to, for example AllowSingleLabelDNSDomain.reg file and run on CLIENT pc:
Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon\Parameters]
"AllowSingleLabelDnsDomain"=dword:00000001 |
