Configuring Outlook 2016, 2019, 2021 or 365 with some older on-premises Exchange server hits the EAS problem and you probably end up with this error, when you try Manual Outlook mail configuration --> Exchange ActiveSync:
Log onto Exchange ActiveSync (EAS): The server cannot be found
At that moment you can only CLOSE the connectivity pop-up, and you are back in ActiveSync configuration window, where you have options to Cancel or NEXT to retry.
SOLUTION
Don't laugh, but at smaller pop-up where CLOSE is selected button, just hit ENTER KEY and keep it pressed, so pop-up window will rapidly change between NEXT under configure account and CLOSE error window, which will keep popping up and closing, until Outlook skips bullshit, drops down to old EAS method and voila! Your account is suddenly configured!
This is kind of simmilar to retrying the same configuration many times, but key is to do it so fast for Outlook to skip using newer EAS method and to drop down do standard EAS, which you cannot configure manually, except by modifiying Registry.
