If you plug-in some USB printer into Windows Vista or Windows 7 machine before you install proper drivers, you might find yourself in a situation, where Windows printer drivers are NOT working, but every reinstallation ends up with the same drivers.
So, what you need to do is to:
- uninstall printer,
- REMOVE all drivers and driver package from your system,
- and only then install printer properly, with manufacturer's LATEST drivers (from internet),
- and finally, plug in USB printer.
The not so known method for removing printer drivers from Windows 7 machine is pretty simple:
- Navigate to START --> Programs --> Accessories --> Command prompt, right-click on it and "Run as Administrator"
- Then type into command window:
printui /s /t2
Some new printer manager opens, where you can go to DRIVERS tab, and click on REMOVE... selected printer. You have an option to "Remove printer driver and driver package", which is your choice in such situations.
